The Island Grind opened its doors in 2017 and has since become a hub for the community and a space that celebrates passion for quality coffee, tea, and food. When they came to us, they already had a WordPress site and a live Shopify store, so we were tasked to work behind the scenes and transfer everything into Shopify without affecting the functionality of their existing store. Like most web projects, we started with desktop and mobile design mockups to ensure that our vision for the site met their needs. To stay in theme with their logo, we incorporated more graphic elements and iconography across the site to create an aesthetic that tied in nicely and more coherently with the brand. The end result made for a smooth transition during launch, and a fully functioning site and store in one platform.

As a remote team, we acknowledge that we live and work on the traditional territories of the First Nations, Métis and Inuit Peoples who have cared for this land since time immemorial. Our home office is situated on the unceded traditional territories of the Liǧʷiɫdax̌ʷ people, the We Wai Kai, Wei Wai Kum and Kwiakah First Nations. Our team’s diverse origins as Settlers mean that our individual paths towards reconciliation are guided with both local and global truths about colonization and its ongoing ramifications for Indigenous Peoples everywhere. As we celebrate the diversities that surround us, we continue to educate ourselves and look at how we can contribute to a more equitable future for all.
